2009 champion Rafael Nadal reached to fourth round of Australian Open on Friday after 6-3,6-2,3-6,6-1 win over Karen Khachanov of Russia.Third seed Alexamder Zverev eased past Albot 6-3,6-4,6-4.Dennis Shapovalov and Matteo Berretini also advanced to round of 16 in men’s singles. In the women’s draw,Naomi Osaka suffered shock defeat against Anisimova ending hopes of a dream fourth round clash against top seed Ashleigh Barty. Barty rolled over Giorgi 6-2,6-3 in the third round.

Badminton

Double Olympic medallist P V Sindhu avenged her India Open loss to Katethong as the Indian prevailed 11-21,21-12,21-17 in the quarterfinals of Syed Modi International in Lucknow.Mithun Manjunath advanced to semifinals in men’s singles.However H S Prannoy crashed out.

Football

France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has signed  new contract at Tottenham Hotspur.In EFL Cup,Liverpool beat 10 man Arsenal 2-0 in the second leg semifinal on Thursday.Liverpool will face Chelsea in the final next month.

Anirban Lahiri got off to a flying start at La Quinta Country Club on Thursday.He carded an eagle and birdie in first four holes.He is tied 52nd after the opening round.
