20 time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal advanced to third round of Australian Open on Wednesday. 2009 champion Nadal beat German Hanfmann 6-2,6-3,6-4.Third seed Alexander Zverev rolled over John Millman of Australia 6-4,6-4,6-0.Matteo Berretini,Dennis Shapavalov,Garin and Sonego all progressed to third round.In women’s section,top sed Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka and M Sakkari advanced with ease against respective opponents.Indian challenge in men’s and women’s doubles ended after Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza bowed out in their respective first round.

Badminton

Double Olympic medallist P V Sindhu 21-9,21-9 to advance to second round of Syed Modi International badminton tournament in Lucknow.Mithun Manjunath and Chirag Sen also reached  third round in men’s singles.

Holders Borussia Dortmund were knocked out of DFL Cup after losing 2-1 to St.Pauli in the third round.
