When sportsnasha was launched in 2016 there was not a single sports company, website or media which catered to the needs of grassroots level sportspersons exclusively nor seriously looked at their performances.
Sportsnasha entered into these unexplored waters in 1996 with a sole aim…Bring young unsung to the mainstream.
In concurrence with this objective we decided and for the first time in the Indian sports world, the concept of sports awards for young and talented was introduced.
We started with the concept of Khel Seva award for a veteran who has served sports for long as well.
And for last 3 years we have been giving awards to a sports science expert as well.
The journey of sportsnasha has been tough with many hurdles, the most important being financial support. Also building a brand in too much of the commercialization of sports, creating a team which could work with dedication was another speed breaker.
But we carried on with a determination, invested our own funds, and slowly moved on.
Sports is not a structured business in India and hardly any sports company makes big bucks keeping in mind grassroots needs.
We came to know about this soon but opted not to relent.
We the owners of the venture personally got involved in every project, visited the smallest of sports events and gave publicity, highlighted the talents from all other (other than cricket) neglected sports..
On the way, we met a lot of supporters, media persons, friends, well-wishers who understood our venture and believed in us. Even many youngsters joined us as freelancers with great passion.
Some of them have become upcoming entrepreneurs and some have become big.
We take this opportunity to mention their names and acknowledge everyone who has directly or indirectly has been part of this campaign.
Great sportspersons /sports/other celebrities like Dhanraj Pillay, GR Vishwanath, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sachin Khedekar Karsan Ghavri, Yajurvindra Singh, Amol Muzumdar, Dinesh Kartik, Pravin Amre, Rakesh Tandan , Chandrakant Pandit, Sulakshan Kulkarni, Smt. Nutan Gavaskar, Raghunandan Gokhale, Dwarkanath Sanzgiri , Sunandan Lele, Milind Gunjal, Prasad Kanade Ulhas Shirke , Sandeep Raut and many others appreciated our concept and gave precious time to us , supported us in many events.
We never knew that taking first step is like winning not just half but almost the entire battle, till we met friends who held our hand and walked with us like a rock.
Renowned personalities like Hon.MLA Shri Parag Alavani, Shri Leander Dias, Shri Dilip Pinge, Shri Arvind Prabhoo, Shri Vijay Sathye, Dr.Yuvraj Singh, and his team, Shri Vijay Yeolekar, Dr Vinay Parvatkar, Anand Deodhar and many others stood behind us like rock and explored all their experience and connections for our work.
We must also mention Ashok Panvalkar ji a former Maharashtra Times editor who gave deserving support in giving visibility to our ventures.
Youngsters and experienced who have been part of our journey have been many but we must mention a few like Pankaj Athawale , Siddarth Sabapathy , Kunal Mahashabde, Amar Godbole, Vinit Gore Shailesh Padhye, Abhiraj Rajadhyaksha, Haineel Shah , Nilesh Walavalkar , Ganesh Devrukhkar Sanjay Sardesai, Mrs. Apoorva Apurva Atkar Mathankar , Shri Charanpal Singh Sobti, Shri Paramdeep Rathee , Meeraj Kanade Prasad Palkar , Milind Purnapatre Swanand Phadke, Oshin Amberkar Santosh Tamore Malhar Potnis Manish Deodhar RJ Chirag Statistician Jay Bhuta Shaarang Shringarpure Swanand Phadke . and many other selfless and dedicated people.
And most importantly it is essentially important to put on record our big and small sponsors who have consistently sponsored or donated funds. We are pleased to name a few of them like Mr. Saurabh Khedekar, Shri Nilesh Samant, Shri Vishwanath Pethe, Prof Rathi Prof Winit Bekal , Prof Rane, Prof. Varma, Prof Rohan Khair,Swanand Kelkar, Shri Kanade , Kapil Somaiya , Prashant D Vaidya Shekhar Wagh and many other school and college friends (from our group WSC and others ) without whom we might not have sustained.
Like every other industry, we too suffered due to Pandemic effects. Almost one and half years of our five years journey has been affected by the pandemic. But we have tried to use the time to enhance skills related to sports by conducting commentary workshops, online coaching ‘cricket coaching made simple’.
We have played a small part in helping sportspersons in giving financial support to young sportspersons or sports workers with weak economic backgrounds.
We have tried all our resources to encourage, support, or arrange for finance to talented young players and we could recommend a Tata Trust Scholarship for young shooter Miss. Prachi Bawkar courtesy Ms.Neelam Babardesai madam who received a deserving scholarship of about 2.2 lakhs.
Friends, attaching herewith a quick video of our work and seek your blessing and support in whatever manner you wish to give in our journey.
The concept we launched has created a national awareness?
Maybe yes, as almost every month a new grassroots sports-related company is being launched.
We consider this as a good beginning for a country which earlier was fascinated by only a few top cricketers, has now started appreciating other sports achievers at all levels.
