All teens women’s final at US Open

It was a historic day in women’s tennis on Thursday as two teenagers reached singles final at US Open in New York.In the first semifinal,Canadian Leylah Fernandez upset second seed Sabalenka 7-6,4-6,6-4 to reach her first ever major final.Fernandez who turned 19 just a few days ago has now beaten three top 5 players (Naomi Osaka,Elina Svitolina and Arya Sabalenka) en route to her final.

In the second semifinal,18vyear old Emma Raducanu of Great Britain eased past 17th seed Maria Sakari 6-1,6-4 to become the first qualifier-male or female to reach major final. Her passage to the final was so smooth that she did not drop a single set in her past six matches. She beat Olympic champion Belinda Bencic in the quarterfinals.

Unexpected finalists

So we have one unseeded and one qualifier for the first time in a Grand Slam final. Also it will be the first teenager final at US Open since Serena Williams beat Martina Hingis in 1999.Both Raducanu and Fernandez will be looking to achieve historical feat when they face each other in the final on Saturday night at Arthur Ashe stadium.Whoever wins, both will get massive prize money so early in their respective careers.Who knows we may see a sort of rivalry between the two in the next few years at majors.
