Olympic updates for India-Day 10

Highlight of day 10 of Tokyo Olympics for India was Indian women’s hockey team made it to semifinals for the first time ever.Here is a look at how Indians fared on Monday in 4 different sports.


Indian women scripted history as they beat 3 time champions Australia 1-0 to reach semifinals in hockey for the first time ever at Olympics.Gurjit Kaur scored from the lone penalty corner in 22nd minute which proved decisive.World no.2 Australia pressed for the equaliser but Indian custodian Savita was at her best keeping Aussies at Bay saving all 8 penalty corners.Indian will play Argentina in the semifinal on Wednesday.


Indian rifle shooters A P S Tomar and Sanjeev Rajput finished 21st and 32nd in men’s 50m Rifle 3 positions at Tokyo Olympics.Thus India failed miserably in shooting for second successive Olympics.


Dutee Chand finished 7th in 200m heats with a timing of 23.85s.In women’s discuss throw final interrupted by rain,Kamalpreet Kaur finished 6th overall with best throw of 63.70m.


Fouaad Mirza finished 23rd overall in individual eventing jumping final in equestrian.It was the best ever performance by an Indian at Olympics.
