Leeds gears up for a tight contest : India vs England 3rd Test Preview
The ecstasy of the staggering Indian victory at Lord’s must be pretty much inside the Indian fans mind as it would be in the players mind who actually defeated England at the Home of Cricket. But this series has now come to a really crucial point now at Nottingham for England would like to square the series and India wouldn’t mind to take an unassailable lead which would guarantee that they would not lose the series from this point.
The England team after Jofra Archer out , Stuart Broad’s injury are further reduced with the injury to their genuine pacer Mark Wood. Not that England don’t have enough resources but they’ll miss the experience that these three guys could’ve brought to the table. Warwickshire quick Saqib Mahmood could likely make his debut but with Craig Overton’s batting skills it would be really interesting to see how Chris Silverwood shapes up the team for the third test. Sam Curran’s form has been a major concern as England are playing him as a proper fourth bowler owing to his batting skills but a King Pair in the last match and underwhelming performances with the ball could hamper his selection. England will also introduce a regiged top order with Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley sent back to their respective counties, Rory Burns could most probably open with Haseebin Hameed with Dawid Malan likely to bat at number three. Jos Buttler, the vice captain would certainly have a point or two to prove his spot in the mix with only the captain Joe Root amongst runs who has scored almost 70 % of the team’s runs in the last two matches, the other England batsmen certainly need to step up
From an Indian team point of view Ravi Shastri would have a happy headache with Shardul Thakur all fit and available and obviously India’s first choice with the batting skills he brings on the table, it would really be difficult to leave Ishant who hasn’t done much wrong in the last match with 5 wickets in the match onto his name. Shami, Bumrah and Siraj would also be booming with confidence as they’ve shown on the field rattling the English batters as they did on day 5 at Lord’s. Ajinkya Rahane proved why he is a seasoned campaigner with his 61 which was a pretty underrated performance. Pujara too found some rhythm alongside Rahul and Rohit who have been nothing but magnificent giving India the start of their lives. Virat Kohli would be raring for himself to get back in form as his batting could really prove to be the cherry on top for this winning India.
The weather is sunny out there right now at Leeds but the dark clouds could loom on day 5 as the forecast suggests. The pitch as the other English pitches are will bat for swing with a hint of turn for the spinners like Moeen and Jadeja. The match will air on the Sony Sports Platform on August 25 at 3.30 IST . We are certainly on for a contest………
