Road to 2022 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup West Indies ! Who will qualify?

The 2022 ICC U19 World Cup will be 14th Edition of the U19 cricket world cup which will be held around January-February 2022 and West Indies hosting for the first time with sixteen teams taking apart in which 11 nations have automatically qualified and 5 nations from each continent which are Asia, Africa, Europe, East Asia Pacific and Americas will qualify for the U19 cricket world cup. The Last U19 World cup was held in South Africa in 2020 where Bangladesh beat India by 3 wickets to make their first ever U19 cricket world cup title and also, they are the defending champions.

Teams who have Qualified automatically for the 2022 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

The 2022 Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualification will be a series of regional qualification tournaments to determine the final five places at the 2022 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Seven tournaments in five regions are scheduled to played. In March 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Division 2 tournament in Asia had been cancelled, and the Division 2 tournament in Africa had been postponed

AFRICAS

The Africa qualifier was originally scheduled to have two divisions, with the top two teams from the Division 2 tournament progressing to the main Africa qualification tournament. Division 2 was originally scheduled to take place in June 2021, before being moved back to August 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in June 2021, the Division 2 tournament was cancelled. With no opportunity to reschedule the event. As a result, Rwanda and Tanzania advanced to the Division 1 tournament based on their past records.

Division 2.

Teams who were about to play in Division 2 were: –

 Division 1

Three teams and the top two teams from the Division 2 tournament are scheduled to take part in the Division 1 tournament from 25 September to 1 October 2021 in Nigeria and the Winner from the Africa representative will qualify for the 2022 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

AMERICAS

The following teams are scheduled to take part in the Americas qualifier from 18 to 25 August 2021 in the United States and winner from the Americas representative will qualify for the 2022 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.

  • Argentina
  • Bermuda
  • Canada
  • United States

ASIA

The Asia qualifier initially had two divisions, with the top two teams from the Division 2 tournament progressing to the main Asia qualification tournament. However, in March 2021, the Division 2 tournament was cancelled, as Thailand were unable to host the matches due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Oman and Singapore were promoted to Division 1, based on their past records in the competition.

 Division 2

The following teams were scheduled to take part in the Division 2 tournament.

  • Singapore*
  • Thailand

The following teams are scheduled to take part in the Division 1 tournament in the United Arab Emirates in September 2021 and the winner from the Asia representative will qualify for the 2022 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

EAP (East Asia Pacific)

The following teams are scheduled to take part in the EAP qualifier from 28 September to 4 October 2021 in Japan and the winner from the EAP representative will qualify for the 2022 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

  • Papua New Guinea
  • Japan
  • Indonesia
  • Vanuatu

Europe

The following teams are scheduled to take part in Europe qualifier. Originally, it was scheduled to take place from 30 July to 5 August 2021 in Scotland.[6] er, it was rescheduled to take place from 19 to 25 September 2021 at the La Manga Club in Spain due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The relocation of the tournament forced Denmark and Guernsey to withdraw from the tournament. Ireland is the only test playing nation who is not qualified automatically but they are qualifiers due to because they didn’t qualified for the 2020 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa
