Olympic Updates for India-Day 6

It was good day for most of the Indian athletes competing at Tokyo Olympics on Thursday.The day began with Indian men’s hockey team beating Argentina.However the day ended on sour note as M C Mary Kom’s hopes of second Olympic medal ended after she lost in round of 16.Here are today’s Indian results.

Hockey

India beat Argentina 3-1 to reach quarterfinals in men’s hockey.

Badminton

Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu stormed into quarterfinals in women’s singles.Sindhu beat Mia Blichfeldt 21-15,21-13.Sindhu will face Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the last eight.

Shooting

Manu Bhaker finished 5th while Rahi Sarnobat finished 25th on day one of qualification in 25m pistol.

Archery

Atanu Das beat two time Olympic gold medallist Jin H Oh 6-5 to reach round of 16 in individual category at Tokyo Olympics.Das will face Furukawa in the last 16 clash on Saturday.

Boxing

Six time world champion M C Mary Kom suffered close 3-2 defeat against Valencia to crash out of Tokyo Olympics.Mary’s dream of winning medal in her last Olympics also faded.Indian male boxer Satish Kumar advanced to quarterfinals in super heavyweight category(91kg).He is one win away from winning a medal in his debut Olympics.

Swimming

Sajan Prakash finished 2nd in 100m butterfly heats.He failed to reach semifinals.

Rowing

Indian rowers-Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh finished 11th overall in men’s double sculls on Thursday.This is our best show in Olympics.

Sailing

Vishnu Saravanan finished 22nd and 23rd in 7th and 8th race in Laser.
