Euro 2020 quarterfinals preview

After few upsets and some of the high quality football matches seen in the round of 16,we reach quarterfinals stage of Euro 2020.

Friday 2 July-Switzerland vs Spain at 9.30 P.M IST

Swiss pulled off the biggest upset of Euro 2020 by eliminating France via penalty shootout in the last 16 tie.On the other side,Spain have scored 10 goals in the last two games and Alvaro Morata found form in 5-3 win over Croatia.Spain are favourites to progress to semifinals.

Saturday 3rd July:Belgium vs Italy at 00.30 A.M.IST

Belgium topped their group and beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the knockout round.Roberto Martinez turned to experience in the match against Portugal and will once again need trio of Thomas Varmaelen,Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in the next match against Italy.Italy will be bolstered in defence with Juventus¬† centre back Giorgio Chiellini back in training after missing the past two games.It will be interesting to see how Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne break Azurri defence.This last eight clash looks to be close with the possibility of going to penalty shootouts.Belgium may just edge Italy and enter semis.

Saturday July 3:Czech Republic vs Denmark at 9.30.p.m.IST

Czechs defeated Netherlands in the round of 16.Tomas Holes was the star for Czech Republic against Holland.Denmark on the other hand had easy wins over Russia and Wales.Since Cristian Eriksen horrifying injury,Danes have got more support from the fans.TributesWho knows,Denmark will reach the last four of Euro Cup this time.

Sunday July 4:England vs Ukraine at 00.30 A.M.IST

England had an impressive win over Germany in the knockout round.Raheem Sterling,Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka look dangerous when on song.Ukraine will need to improve their defence if they are to cause an upset.Only disadvantage for Three Lions is that this quarterfinal will be played in Rome and the support will be less.England will ease through this one and head to Wembley for semifinal.
