Few Sportingly Stray Thoughts-for a week ending 18th Jan

A few stray thoughts for one more  weekend with India winning the ODI series 2-1.
Like India winning two out of three ODIs was not as pleasantly surprising  as India beating Australia 2-1 in Test Cricket, though encouraging one, on a run up to World Cup-2019.
Like India has one of the best batting sides for One Day but definitely not in Test Cricket with burden lying more on Virat and Pujara who are like Smith and Warner for India and we know what happens when big 2 dont play.
Like India will be touring New Zealand (which is presently the better side than Australia and even India) and then again Kangaroos will come to India would be a good practice before World Cup though the tours are not necessarily meant for the practice but for the sponsors and advertisers.
Like MS Dhoni has proved that he can’t be dropped from ODI format for the present, though his Man of the Series winning performance is by far not his best and that shows from the strike rate of less than 100 which is not on par with current standards of cricket.

And that if you have observed, the slide of MSD is clearly visible in the running between the wickets especially when he takes three and then loses  his breathe.

And that you may agree that  hallmark of MSD’s batting is, or rather was , his running between the wickets and also that Spectators nowadays don’t have to be consistently alert when MSD is playing to avoid getting hurt in stadium, thanks to his missing long powerful sixes.

Apart from cricket there was a rare good news on international front for India in other sport except Saina Nehwal reaching semi finals of Malaysia Masters and my feeling is she would win it .

And that in Australian, open Tennis old war horses Federer and Nadal continue to win and are most likely to compel us to skip marriages or a party to keep our Sunday free for Roger vs  Rafael final.

And the sad news  not only for Murray fans but all Tennis lovers is that three time grand slam winner is on the verge of retiring due to hip injury and the great man would definitely be missed in World Tennis Circuit.

And finally would not be wrong to say that likes of  Hardik Pandya and Rahuls are everywhere around us and can’t be prevented nor KJs who are enjoying provoking them.

Like it is also time to bid adieu to Karan by saying KAFI HO GAYA KARAN .

See you next time with a guess that Pandya will be seen playing IPL with a thickly grown beard on his face with Gilletee  expectedly scraping the contract of advertisement with him.
