Cricket Club of India’s Sparsh Pherwani, a winner of the first leg, continued with his impressive winning run of form. He scored his third successive win defeating Nikhil Saigal of Khar Gymkhana by a narrow 3-2 (41-67, 55-44, 31-62,64-38 and 62-43) margin in a keenly contested Group-A match of the BSAM Maharashtra State Senior Snooker & Billiards Selection (leg-2) Championship 2018, at the Bombay Gymkhana billiards room.
In another match of the same group, Bombay Gymkhana’s billiards marker Sanjay Gamre got the better of JVPG’s Sanjiv Shah 3-2 (62-8, 52-60,48-34, 28-63 and 60-18) for his second win.
Pherwani with an all-win record topped the group, while Gamre was second and they both have qualified for the pre-quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Mukund Bharadia of Cricket Club of India won his final two Group-C league matches. He first defeated NSCI’s Anant Mehta 3-1 (60-7, 61-19,47-61, and 59-9) and later blanked Pune’s Viren Sharma 3-0 (64-44, 67-54 and 84-5) to finish first in the group. Bharadia and Mehta who was second also advanced to the last 16 round.
