Rawat, Selarka shine in teams and individuals in MIG State Ranking Veterans TT

 

The MIG Cricket Club State Ranking Veterans Table Tennis Tournament which had received 350 entries from participants from all over Maharashtra concluded recently. Manish Rawat from Solapur and Dinkar Selarka from Mumbai proved their dominance in both individual as well as team event . While Manish won the Men’s 40+ Gold medal in Singles, Dinkar popularly known as Pappu scored a memorable victory over top seed and current 60+ National champion Prakash kelkar in Men’s 60+ finals.

Both Manish Rawat and Dinkar Selarka  also helped their respective teams Solapur and kandivali Recreation Club, reach finals of the team event, which had attracted 52 entries from teams coming from different parts of Maharashtra, besides Mumbai clubs. It was a hectic schedule on the first day, but MIG Club organizers under the leadership of Suhas Dandekar managed the event very well.

Sunil Babras the undisputed champion in Men’s 50+ section won the finals scoring an easy win over Ram kadam, who had defeated Dr.Nitin Toshniwal from Solapur in the semifinals. Former international Suhas Kulkarni also retained his title this year in men’s 65+ section, while overcoming the challenge from his elder brother and former State player Satish Kulkarni. Thane’s Shruti kanade Joshi who has made her comeback into TT playing her first Veterans TT Tournament registered her first win, when she defeated Sushma Mogre also from Thane district. Dr. Anagha Joshi also retained her last year’s title in Women’s 50+ section in spite of her busy schedule in hospital.
