Maharashtra’s Radhika Sakpal defied all odds to emerge as the cadet girls’ singles category winner while Pritha Vartikar missed out on a spot-junior girls’ category in the 11SPORTS National ranking State TT Championship (South Zone) here at the RRMC Indoor Stadium.
Radhika had a tough time progressing through the quarters when she faced fellow Maharashtra-mate Hardee Patel but bounced back to win the last four stage. She carried on her feat of bouncing back in semifinals too, as she won the last three to turn the tables on West Bengal’s Nandini Shah.
Riding on the confidence, she breezed past West Bengal’s Aashika Sharma with a comprehensive 4-0 win.
Another talented player Pritha Vartikar of Maharashtra dazzled but lost out to the eventual winner of the sub-junior girls’ category Suhana Saini of Haryana.
She dominated all her opponents as she cruised to the semifinals without even losing a game. But her momentum was cut-short in the last-four stage.
