INDIA MEN LOSE OPENING MATCH TO CHINESE TAIPEI

The Indian men’s handball team at the quadrennial began event with a 28-38 defeat to Chinese Taipei at the PopkiIndoor Stadium,  on Monday.
The Games are set to begin in the Indonesian capital with the opening ceremony scheduled on August 18 but competitions in  events such as handball and football began on Monday.
In the 13-team men’s competition, India have been clubbed with Chinese Taipei and Iraq in Group D while in the women’s draw, 10 teams will compete for the gold. India will compete with South Korea, Kazakhstan, China and North Korea in Group A.
The women’s team playing their opening match against Kazakhstan on Tuesday lost 19-36 in handball.
