Final Report- Dell EMC Spartans lifts the coveted CricIT T20 league title as the tournament turns out to be a grand success


The aura, the competitiveness and the passion with which each team has played in this tournament has been simply exemplary. The quality of the matches, the professionalism and the discipline at which all the teams have conducted has been something which can make any cricket lover feel proud to watch such matches.

Even the semi-finals which were played on 5th May 2018 were nothing short of a thrillers. Cricket was played with so much passion and love that many players from the losing side ended up in tears and it just shows the spirit of the sport.

Semi Final – Techdata Smashers vs Insight Disruptors

After an intense semi-final where we say Insight Disruptors and Techdata Smashers take on each other. Techdata smashers who batted first after winning the toss notched up 147/6 in 20 overs with Raghuvanshi Shori at the middle order top scoring with 44* off 31balls. From Insight, Hardik Shah with 2/16 and Umesh Aparaj with 2/25 were the pick of the bowlers. Chasing 148, Insight were cruising at one point after Hardik Shah (27) and Deepak Thakkur (61 off 42) looking to finish the game at one point with almost a 100runs on the board within 13overs with 7wkts in hand.

However, Techdata Smashers gave a mind blowing come back with excellent and disciplined bowling plus a crucial run out of the all set Deepak Thakkur at 14.3 overs changed the momentum. From nowhere, Techdata Smashers restricted Inisght to 139/7 and won a thriller of a semi-final. From smashers, Yashvant Karveer with 3/21 was fantastic with the ball Techdata smashers qualified for the Sunday Special Finale. It was an emotional end for the insight team who have been excellent in the tournament with tears in the eyes of senior player Piyush and Deepak Thakkur in the closing ceremony which shows the love and passion they have for the game.

Semi Final 2- IBM vs Dell EMC Spartans

On the other hand, Dell EMC Spartans and IBM took on each other where in IBM winning the toss elected to bat first notching up 153/5 in 20 overs on the back of fantastic 78 off 58balls(7fours ,2sixes) by Nadeem Hamdare who has been a revelation in this tournament with his rock solid batting. Chasing 154, opener Punit gave a thumping start with a gritty 31 while it was Akash Dahiya smashing a match winning 73 off 50balls at no.3 smashing 10fours which sealed the deal for his team Dell EMC Spartans. He also got good support from Chinmay Mohite who scored an unbeaten 29*.

Now it was time for the all important finals, it was the evening/night T20  finals, the stage was set, the ground rolled up and both the teams Techdata Smashers and Dell Emc Spartans ready for the one last final encounter at the Thakkur Cricket Ground where in Dell won the toss and elected to bat first.

Finals-DELL EMC Spartans vs Techdata Smashers

Dell EMC batting first notched up a very competitive total of 161/8 in 20 overs despite suffering a top order collapse. Chinmay Mohite who was impressive in the semis too continued his good touch to score a match saving 62 off 44balls (8fours, 1six) at no.4 along with Siddhesh Gharat’s 37 which pushed the team total to a very fighting total.

Techdata Smashers chasing 162 seemed to have choked out in a high intensity and a high pressure match as none of their batsman could convert their starts into 50’s or something even more with Ashish Joshi’s 34 being the highest score. Akash Dahiya bowled one of the most important spells of the tournament coming up with sensational bowling figures of 4/12 in 4overs which completely changed the game as Dell EMC Spartans won the finals of the CricIT tournament by 32runs restricting Techdata boys to 129/9 in 20overs.

It was a stunning win for the boys and its certainly party time for them after playing consistently well throughout the tournament. Dell EMC Spartans were the deserved winners with a balanced side and a great team work between the 11players which helped them stand out from the other teams.
