De Kock ruled out as injured the crisis deepens for South Africa
Quinton de Kock was the latest name which was added to the list of South Africa’s injured stars as Proteas’ suffered yet another blow in an ongoing six-match ODI series against India. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been ruled out of the rest of the series owing to a wrist injury. De Kock’s injury will at least take 2-4 week to recover and will not be available for the 3 match T20 series later this month. Cricket South Africa (CSA) press release revealed.
“Quinton suffered an extreme blow to the left wrist while batting in the second ODI on Sunday and felt severe pain and discomfort. Further investigation revealed severe bony bruising to the area, with associated swelling around the tendon in the wrist. This type of injury will require a 2-4 week to heal, which subsequently rules him out of the remaining ODI and T20 series against India. The Cricket South Africa medical team will aim to have him ready for the Test series against Australia starting next month”, South Africa team manager Dr. Mohammed Moosajee was quoted as saying in the press release. De Kock follows Proteas skipper Faf Du Plessis and star batsman AB de Villiers into the sidelines. However, AB de Villiers is expected to make his comeback in the 4th ODI.
