Double Olympic champion Sushil Kumar made great comeback to international stage by clinching gold medal at Commonwealth Wrestling Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa.Returning to international wrestling after more than 3 years Sushil defeated Akash Khullar of New Zealand via a pinfall in the final of 74kg freestyle category to win gold for India.It was his first medal in international wrestling since his last gold medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. 2008 Olympics bronze medalist and 2012 Olympics silver medalist could not make it
to last year’s Rio Olympics due to unwanted controversies.
However with his grit and determination he made a return to competitive wrestling only last month where he won gold at Senior Nationals in Indore with the help of walkover from 3 fellow wrestlers.Now after winning  gold at Commonwealth Championships.
He has silenced his critics who thought his career would be over after Rio fiasco. Parveen Rana won bronze giving India double celebration in the same 74kg category. Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik beat New Zealand’s Tayla Tuahine 13-2 in the final of 62kg Women’s Freestyle category to win yellow metal medal for India.
So far India have won in all 20 medals at this event.
