Shrikant Kidambi Wins Another Super Series Title
Kidambi Srikanth made history by becoming the first Indian to win four super series titles in a year when he beat Japanese qualifier Kenta Nishimoto 21-14,21-13 in the final of French Open.Srikant also becomes only the fourth player ever to win four or more super series titles in a year.Fourth ranked Indian was down 9-5 in the opening game only to come back strong afterwards as he dethroned Nishimoto with his powerful smashes and good court coverage. After winning the first game 21-14 Srikanth never looked back and took the second 21-13 to close out the match.Only last week he captured Denmark Open. With this win Srikanth now has won back to back titles for the second time this year with his title wins in Indonesia and Australia coming back to back in June. Before the final Srikanth won his last two matches lasting just over an hour including his win over compatriot H S Prannoy. This shows Srikanth has fitness and stamina required to perform at top level. He never looked nervous in the final and looked motivated for success. Now he will further move up from his number 4 in rankings.Let us hope he ends this year at number one in the world.
