World Badminton Tournament, Glasgow

It was a good day for India. Shuttle Queen and Olympics Silver Medalist P . V. Sindhu won against Kim Hua Min of Korea 21 – 16 , 21 – 14 . It was a one sided game for Sindhu to enter the Pre Quarters of the Tournament.
B. Saipraneet defeated Wei Nan of Hong Kong 21- 18, 21 – 17  in 47  minutes. It was a yough first game where Nan had taken lead ywice, but experienced Saipraneed came back syrobgly with his smashes and drops. He will face Anthony Ginting of Indonesia in next round.
Again in a one sided encounter, Ajay Jayram defeated Luka Wrober of Austria 21-14, 21- 12
Chess
After a good performance in Abu Dabi Open, the efforts of Abhimanyu Puranik have paod off. He is now Grand Master of India. Abhimanyu is the  youngest Hrand Master of Maharashtra.
Abu Dhabi Open Chess Tournament
India’s Harika Dronavalli had to settle on 9th spot after 9 rounds of the tournament. Harika lost against International Master David Eagleston in 9 th round. But overall it was a very good performance by her in the tournament.
Tennis
2  times Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitovha was defeated by China’s Shuai Zang 6-2, 6-1  in straight sets here in ATP tournament in New Haven.
