Few Stray Thoughts by Aju
Few Stray Thoughts a week after India’s loss in final against Pakistan.
I hate them when philosophers say live in present.
I dislike, when some self proclaimed saints offer advise to forget past, as past is no more according to them.
I resent those teachings which say that past is over and is history.
Living in Past glory is my best enjoyment and I have no regrets of reliving those days.
I love to be nostalgic.
Past is never a hurdle in my presence.
Can I live in present by forgetting 1983 world cup? Can you ?
Can I not remember how India won against Zimbabwe from jaws of defeat. Can you?
Can I afford to forget kapil Deo’s knock of 175 from score of 20 for 6 wickets. Can you?
Can I live peacefully by neglecting Sandeep Patil’s heroic innings smashing Bob Willis all over in Semi Final of 1983 world cup . Can you?
Can I forgive my memory if it does not retrieve Kapil’s catch of giant batsman Richards. Can you?
I will consider myself dead if I am unable to relive glory of Mohinder Amernath trapping Holding LBW to put final nail in coffin of great West Indian team .Can you?
I don’t want to forget my past and never allow my mind to delete those memories of Kapil holding world cup at Lords Galary. Can you?
We Indian cricket lovers can’t afford to make blunders of formatting the mind disk storing those all time great moments of Indian cricket. Can you?
Live long 1983 world cup memories . Today is your 34th birthday.
Happy birthday 1983 World cup team .
Very well said…in simple words!
Thanks for revisiting those lovely memories. The whole country was celebrating the whole night. Probably the greatest day in Indian sports as it created a self belief that we are capable of achieving anything, considered impossible till that time.
