Om Savnekar, Kashish Pal and Tanay Thakkar strike gold at Mumbai Mayor Indoor Archery
Archers from I land Academy, Wadala won medals in various categories at the Mumbai Mayor Indoor Archery competition.
In the recurve category, Tanay Thakkar won 2 golds in the U 14 boys category, where as Swara Patel won a gold and a bronze in the girls section. Om Hande got the bronze.
In the U 17 age group, Om Savnekar shot well to earn 2 gold medals. Om continued his good form in the senior group too and won a gold and 2 bronze medals.
In the compound section Kashish Pal won a gold and a bronze medal in the Seniors.
Mayor of Mumbai Vishwanath Mahadeshwar was present at the prize distribution ceremony.
The national field indoor archery tournament, the Mumbai Mayors cup will start from tomorrow at the Shahajiraje Krida Sankul, also known as the Andheri sports complex.
Players from Mumbai and across various states will participate in this indoor tournament. The age categories start from U 10, U 14, U17, U 19, seniors and veterans for boys and girls in various different categories of bows.
Indoor archery is shot at 18 m as compared to outdoor, where the target is at 70m for Recurve and 50m for the Compound bows.
In outdoor archery which is also known as FITA, the distances for the wooden bows are 30m and 50m.
