US open exclusive analysis by Shailesh

Rafael Nadal won US Open for the third time in his career. He beat Kevin Anderson of South Africa 6-3,6-3,6-4 in the final on Sunday. He was hot favourite prior to his final. He hit 30 winners and just 11 unforced errors against Anderson. Nadal was so dominant throughout the final as he did not face a single break point.Anderson was appearing in his first Grand Slam final and inexperience showed as he committed 40 unforced errors.

For Nadal it was his first hard court title since he won at Doha in Jan 2014.Injuries forced him to end his season early after Rio Olympics last year. Many wrote him off after he pulled out prior to third round of French Open with wrist injury. Not only experts but he himself was not sure whether he would win a major in the future.
However this year he reached Australian Open final and won record 10th French crown.Last month he claimed top spot in rankings for the fourth time in his career. Now with 16 majors in his kitty he will look forward to match rival Roger Federer who has 19 Grand Slam wins. Nadal with his US Open title also is in a strong position to end 2017 with top rank.
